The nucleocapsid protein (N) was one of the structural proteins of SARS-CoV (N, S, sE, M), which epitopes were defined by parallel comparison of SARS-CoV infected and non-infected human sera with Epitoscreen TM peptide array. The N protein of SARS-CoV shares little homology with nucleocapsid proteins of other members of the coronavirus. N proteins of other coronavirus have been reported to be involved in forming the viral core and also in the packaging and transcription of the viral RNA.

SARS/SARS-Cov-2 Coronavirus Nucleocapsid Antibody (MA5-29981) in ICCImmunofluorescent analysis of SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus Nucleocapsid protein in SARS-CoV-2 infected Vero E6 cells. Cells were incubated with a SARS/SARS-Cov-2 Coronavirus Nucleocapsid Monoclonal Antibody (5) (Product # MA5-29981) at indicated dilution at 4C overnight, and followed by incubating with F(ab')2-Rabbit anti-Mouse IgG (H+L) Cross-Adsorbed Secondary Antibody, Alexa Fluor 488 (Product # A-21204) at a dilution of 1:1000 for 1 hour at room temperature (Panel a: green). Nuclei (Panel b: blue) were counterstained with DAPI. Panels c through d represent composite images at 1:500, 1:200, 1:100 and 1:50 dilutions.
